Laysan Albatross

“Talking Story”

The Laysan Albatross are colonial, nesting in small islands and atolls throughout the north pacific. The colony at Ka’ena Point, O’ahu is a must stop for nature photographers - only a 2 1/2 mile hike from the trail head - but the journey must begin before dawn in order to photograph these magnificent birds in their best light (before 7:10 am when the sun rises above the mountain). These charmingly social and expressive sea birds are a joy to watch and photograph as they establish relationships and eventually bond for life.
